New BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupé redefines off-road sector

BMW has redefines the off-road sector with the launch of the first ever Sports Activity Coupé. The new BMW X6, which arrived on 31 May 2008, combines the powerfull ruggedness of a four-wheel drive SAV with the elegant flowing lines of a Coupé.
"This is an incredible car with truly radical style and presence," said Gary Bolton, Ocean Torbay General Manager. "The striking design, with tapering roofline, long rear body, stretched coupé silhouette, Xenon headlights, flared wheel arches and 19" alloy wheels all illustrate the car's sporting intent, while the impressive line-up of turbocharged engines delivers outstanding performance."
BMW's revolutionary EfficientDynamics programme produces more driving pleasure with lower CO2 emissions. For example, the 235 hp 3.0-litre diesel achieves power with economy, zero to 62 mph in 8 seconds, 34.4 mpg on the combined cycle and 217 g/km emissions. Then later in 2008, BMW will introduce a brand new engine, a twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 capable of achieving zero to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds.
When it comes to roadholding the X6 performs with amazing agility. This is due to the combination of BMW xDrive (which distributes driving force to the axle with most grip) and new Dynamic Performance Control. The X6 is the first BMW to benefit from this unique system, which improves stability at all speeds by seamlessly transferring additional wheel speed to the outer rear wheel to push the car round the corner, rather than applying the brake froce to the inner wheels.
Inside the X6 is equally impressive. It seats four comfortably with individual rear seats and, unusually for a coupé, there is ample luggage space. Other equipement highlights include a colour display screen with iDrive controller, two-zone climate control and steering wheel-mounted paddles on six-speed automatic transmission models.
